GRETNA PURSE THE FEATURE Sprint of Six Furlongs Today at Fair Grounds Brings Out High Class of Horses. NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 30. Although the Gretna Purse holds the place of honor on Thursdays program here at the Fair Grounds, as much or more interest will attach to the fifth event, a sprint of six furlongs, which will bring out a strong field of better grade platers. Among others in this sprint is the Glad Acres Farms Prosy, which has not been beaten since he left here last spring; This son of Infinite won his last start at the Fair Grounds early in the year and then won six more in the Middle West to stamp himself one of the most consistent platers of the year. In all he won nine races so far in 1938. HAS WORK CUT OUT. Prosy, however, will have his work cut out for him tomorrow, for he will be opposing such able performers as Polly Hastings, Lucky Ducky, Little Drift, Waxwing, Frozen Mask and Pandonna, among others. The Gretna Purse is to be contested at a mile and seventy yards and the six named for this event were Masterpiece, Gay May, Rough Diamond, Casinghead, Legerdemain and Decourcy. Gay May already has graced the -winners circle here this meeting and should have a good following tomorrow. Other races on the card also bring out good fields and should produce more of the Interesting races which have been the rule rather than the exception since the local season got under way. Indications this morning were that tomorrows card would be presented under pleas-I ant conditions.
