1 SANTA ANITA TURF NOTES Q $ Pete Pelleteri has been appointed trainer of the fillies Sentimentalist and Lizzie, which race for Tini Durant. The pair of racers were turned over to their new conditioner today by former jockey J. W. Smith. W. J. "Buddy" Hirsch, making his first trip to California with a racing stable, encountered a setback when the two-year-old Metamorphosis succumbed to an attack of pneumonia contracted while shipping from Maryland. The colt, a son of Transmute and Polly Mac, Avas the property of the King Ranch stable, and, it " is reported, he was insured for ,000. The other nine members of the stable are doing fine and indulging in their regular training routine. Lady Bowman and Princess Athene, color-bearers of W. A. Thomas, will be given a brief rest while recuperating from an applir cation of blister administered a few days ago. Trainer Thomas reports the rest of the horses under his care in fine fettle. Tommy Taylor will be the conditioner of Warfellow, Mr. Finn and Upper Berth, which race for Howard Hawks, for their future engagements. Taylor received the trio of racers from Jimmy Smith, who formerly trained for Hawks.
