STAKE ELIGIBLES GOING WEST Marica, War Magic and Yale o Nine Carded for Shipment in the Near Future Others at Louisville. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 30 Marica and War Magic, candidates for the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, and Yale o Nine, an outstanding prospect for the Santa Anita Derby, and other three-year-old fixtures of the coming year, will head the most important shipment of horses from here to Santa Anita. In charge of Howard Oots this flashy trio, accompanied by one or two others, will start the long trip to southern California within a short time. Marica and Yale o Nine are owned by Thomas D. Taggart, prominent hotel and resort operator of French Lick Springs, Ind., while War Magic is the property of James Cox Brady. Jake Lowenstein and Mrs. Lowenstein plan a vacation in southern California. They will leave Louisville in a few days and are returning after the first week or ten days of the Santa Anita meeting. Lowenstein is wintering ten horses at Churchill Downs, and upon his return will take up eight others now running out. C. L. Croan, Louisville businessman and a member of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, intends to reach Miami in time for the opening of the Tropical Park meeting. His good filly, Legenda, is a likely starter in the Christmas Handicap at the Gables course. Besides the strings trained by Roscoe Goose, Thomas Sanford, Jake Lowenstein and Jack Hanover, other important stables wintering here include those of I. J. Collins, . Mrs. Frank J. Navin, Val Crane, John Jones, Bryant Ott and J. H. Stone. Several of these establishments are quartered at Douglas Park.
