UNBEATEN VILLANOVA DECLINES VILLANOVA, Pa., Nov. 30. The Villanova Wild Cats, unbeaten although twice tied since 1936, today rejected an invitation to play undefeated and untied Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, January 2. The bid was turned aside "with many regrets" by the college board of athletic control, which yesterday declined an invitation for the Wild Cats to meet New Mexico in the Sun Bowl at El Paso. Little known in the East, Texas Tech is probably the most powerful independent team in the Southwest. It won ten straight games this season, scoring 274 points to 35 for its opponents. Despite rejection of the Cotton and Sun Bowl bids, the -players and the coaches, it is said, would have been receptive to an invitation to the bigger Sugar Bowl game in New Orleans. A
