CANCEL PHILADELPHIA GAME PHILADELPHIA, Pa., Nov. 30. The postseason Liberty Bowl football game, scheduled for Philadelphias municipal stadium on New Years eve, has been canceled, Director of Public Works Martin J. McLaughlin announced today. The game was being promoted by a group of New York sports writers and sportsmen because of their dissatisfaction at the caliber of teams selected to play in Californias Rose Bowl. Bad weather and the prospects of a hard winter were the reasons for the cancellation, McLaughlin said.
