BARRACA gained a short lead in the opening eighth under strong urging, met repeated bids from KISSIN KID and barely lasted long enough while saving ground all. the way. KISSIN KID was a strong contender from the beginning, made strong challenges and fought it out stubbornly to the finish. LADY TIMAROLE raced on the outside of the leaders and finished with good courage. SURE MISS was under strong urging and raced well. ENGLES LAD broke clear, but lacked speed. FLYING HEART tired after going three-eighths. HOME HUNTER and DAISY PETAL were outrun. PHILIGAL outran her field to the first turn, raced PEGADETTE into submission, saved ground and was kept .under steady pressure to the end after drawing clear. PENWAY broke flatfootcd, moved up stoutly nearing the final turn, swung to the inside and faltered in the final drive. PEGADETTE raced stoutly for five-eighths, then tired. EDITH WALKER was pinched back soon after the start, then failed to rally -when shaken up. WANTED was held safe. MISS DE MIE showed good speed for a half mile. SPANISH MAID was rouehed on the turn out of the back stretch and could not recover. JUSTA JIMMIE broke swiftly to take the lead immediately, was kept under steady urging all during the running and had enough in reserve to stall off PETER H. The latter worked his way forward steadily on the outside and closed courageously under a vigorous drive. CAUTIOUS BO was ridden hard to hold a contending position and continued gamely after making stout bids. LAPIS was under a strong drive throughout and had no excuses. DREAM RIVER gained steadily in the late stages after getting settled in stride. NIGHTS END would not extend himself. POCKET PIECE was held safe. BALDY could not keep up. SEA DOVE was a prominent factor in the early running and rallied nicely when placed to a drive, but was not good enough. WELSH LAD was stoutlv handled, but could not stay when shaken up. ELSIE J. was under stout pressure all the way. STEPEE passed tiring horses. GAYLASS raced in dull fashion and can do better. CALL ME ANNE was never a tlneat. JUDGE G. was outrun. OCEAN ROLL moved to the front immediately, met stout opposition from THE RUNNER for the first seven-eighths, responded to a tenacious drive in the closing eighth and was out to the limit to withstand ROYAL BUSINESS. The latter was rated back of the leaders for three-quarters, moved forward stoutly when shaken up. engaged the winner nearing the stretch and fought it out determinedly to the end. THE RUNNER forced a steady pace, made strong bids and continued gamely under a vigorous drive. HOLLUS-CHICK1E was unable to. threaten the leaders at any time. TEMPTING WITCH had good early speed, was crowded slightly midway of the turn and could not keep pace with the winner. HAPPY HOST was under strong pressure all the way and showed a cood eifort. ROVING EYE raced stoutly, but was not good enough. TRAVELO was never a threat. SHEKNOWS was outrun. .ROYAL VEIL could not enter contention. MORLUTE was held safe. NEVER IDOL worked her way forward on the inside, made a strong challenge at the first turn and held on willingly. ERADA improved his position on the outside, but faltered in the final drive.
