ZIDA PROVES GOOD PRODUCER Baroni Mare Dam of Good Winner Rolling Ball Latter Sired by Coopers Bon Homme. LOS ANGELES, Calif., Dec. 3. In the spring of 1933, Albert A. Baroni, "Bert" to his many friends on the Western Turf, sent r -aare he had raced for several years to the Nursery. It marked the first entry of Top Kows owner and trainer into the breeding industry. The mare was Zida, a daughter of Zev and as Baroni had no farm of his own he sent her to Charles E. Coopers Rancho San Luis Rey in San Diego County. Zida was mated to Bon Homme and produced a colt which was named Splash Along. He raced with mediocre success. But the next year Zida foaled a handsome bay colt by Bistouri, and this youngster made the investment of his owner a profitable one, paying for all the expense of the breeding operation several times over. For the youngster was no other than Rolling Ball, which won the San Gabriel Stake ... at Santa Anita last December and has earned over 0,000 in purses for Baroni. Rolling Ball was foaled, broken and received his initial training at Rancho San Luis Rey, where his two younger sisters also first saw the light of day. The latter are Bonzida, a two-year-old by Bon Homme and an as yet unnamed yearling full sister of Rolling Ball, being by Bistouri, which now is in training at Hollywood Park. Friends have suggested to Baroni that the sprightly yearling be named "Spinning Top" in the hope that she will follow in the footsteps of her big brother, Rolling Ball.
