BEULAH READY FOR OPENING Eight Races to Be Run Daily Over Columbus Track. Officials Forced to Stable Extra Horses at State Fair Grounds T. C. Bradley Presiding Steward. COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 19. Beulah Park ushers in the midwestern racing season Saturday, April 22, when a twenty-five day meeting gets under way at the Grove City course. Eight races will be contested daily, with the post time for the first being 2:15 p. m. The "Daily Double" will prevail on the first and second events. Ladies Days will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the meeting, which closes Saturday, May 20. The Inaugural Handicap will topline the opening days card. It will be the sixth event and over the distance of one mile. Due to the fact that Beulahs stabling facilities are taxed with a higher class of horses than has ever before raced at the Grove City course, the Inaugural and other handicaps throughout the meeting are certain to attract select fields. In addition to 640 horses at Beulah, some 200 more are quartered at the State Fair Grounds. Beulah Park officials were forced to seek additional stall room after all available space at Beulah and Grove City was exhausted. Thomas C. Bradley will serve as presiding steward, with O. E. Pons and E. W. "Ted" Stribling associate stewards. Fred V. Burton will be racing secretary and W. C. "Bill" Daly starter. The meeting will be the fourth conducted at Beulah by Robert J. Dienst and his associates, who assumed control in the fall of 1937. Dienst is president and general manager; Henry Green, vice-president; Walter Ritter, secretary, and Robert Y. Dienst, treasurer.
