KEENELAND TURF N0TES" j $, E. F. Woodward, owner of Valdina Farm, purchased the mare Annadare, by Sweep, from F. P. Letellier. She is in foal to Sun Teddy and will be bred to Blue Larkspur. Col. Matt J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association; C. Bruce Head, steward at Churchill Downs and general man-r ager of Lincoln Fields; Mrs. Head, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hermann motored from Louisville for Wednesdays sport. J. Graham Brown, judge Eugene Dailey and Millard Cox comprised another Louisville party present Wednesday. Mrs. George Valentine Polacheck and Mrs. William Kotis of Chicago are the guests of Mrs. James Pryor Gruber and Mrs. Stephen Sewell Combs. Conn Smythe, Canadian sports promoter and horse owner, notified his trainer, W. E. Coburn, he would be here to spend the weekend. Smythe is coming from his home in Toronto, Canada, to witness the performance of his three-year-old Sir Marlboro in the Ben Ali Handicap, featured number on Saturdays program. Skating Fool, which scored a victory and a third in his only races here, is also expected to be under silks in the Buck Pond,i six-furlong allowance event on the same card. The contract on jockey Kenneth Greever has been leased to J. D. Stevens during the balance of the Keeneland meeting. Fred Burton left for Beulah Park where he will serve as racing secretary. His place as clerk of the scales will be filled by Charles Gormley, young Lexington official who serves as patrol judge at Dade Park. Frank Catrone brought Valdina Lass over from Churchill Downs. Catrone has fifteen head at the Louisville course which he is training for Frank Podesta and Fred Orgill. Jockey Herman Schutte departed for Narragansett Park where he reports to the Mrs. Emil Denemark stable. Jacob Lang, Buffalo brewer, who raced a prominent stable until last year, is a visitor. Louie Peters, whose horses are quartered at Churchill Downs, vanned the plater Emir from that point. In addition to the fifteen horses he has here, Clyde Van Dusen has four horses quartered at Churchill Downs and two head at his Few Acres Farm. The twenty-one head will comprise the stable Van Dusen will race through the Louisville meeting. J. W. Murphy, who is without horses, arrived from Miami in quest of material for a Detroit campaign. J. H. Skirvin vanned A. C. Ernsts Alup over from Churchill Downs where the main division of the stable is quartered. S. Stewart Lewis of Toledo is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Royse Martin at Woodvale Farm.
