STEEL SPUR, alertly ridden and showing good speed throughout, opened up a safe lend soon alter the start, was placed to vigorous handling in the last quarter and retained a safe margin. WHITDEL, closest to the leader throughout, was placed to pressure in the final quarter, gained slightly on the pace maker, but faltered near the end. EASY STREET raced prominently throughout and was strongly urged all of the way. but never threatened. JUNE O. began slowly, improved her position rapidly in the first quarter and tired in the drive. ALMA NUGGET could not keep up. MARY ALLIE unseated her rider while at the starting "ate and returned to the barn alter hurdling the back fence of the three quarters chute. SIDOUT was in Hose quarters and well un during the first sixteenth when her rider was unseated. KIEV GAFFNEY, hard urged to reach the lead and not given a breather while setting the pace, continued gamely, but was no match for the winner. HASTY SUE beean sluggishly, improved h"r position rapidly after a half mile and finished well. NO CHANGE was prominent throughout. MAD GALLOP began swiftly but dropped out of it after three eighths. DEADEYE DICK lost considerable ground pi the turns, but showed a good effort. LIGNUM VITAE, well up from the start, failed to improve his position under a brisk shaking up. FLY STONE was much used up in the first half mile and gave way. BETTY REJOICE had speed for I half mile, eave wav suddenlv and was eased up after straightening out in the stretch.
