MARY VAN TRUMP, slow to settle into stride, closed resolutely under punishment and was gaining on the first two. CHIEFS with SCOUT, prominent throughout, held on good courage in the final stages. VAN LAW, forced to race wide most of the way, failed to be dangerous under pressure. CLIENTELLE had no excuse PRINCE WESTEND, away in stride and in close quarters early, reached contention when clear, but faltered in the final stages. IRENE ROSS quit. PICKARD had early speed.
