Slow Motions Rider Claims Foul, but Stewards • Fail to Agree — Sun Pharos Wins for Kilmer. BOSTON, Mass., June 13.— L. J. Marks Many Stings reeled off six furlongs in the I extremely fast time of 1:10% to win the Matt ■ Patterson Purse, which headlined the sport I at Suffolk Downs today. It was the second I time during the meeting that a horse has i traveled the distance in better than 1:11. . Burgoo Miss achieved the feat the other day, , but her time was a fifth of a second slower [ than that of Many Stings. The score of the Canaan gelding was not : confirmed immediately. F. Kelly, who rode J. W. Y. Martins Slow Motion, the runner- up, claimed a foul which was quickly dis- - missed by the stewards. The two horses 5 touched at the head of the stretch while one j was bearing in and the other bearing out, , but neither suffered from the slight collision. . Many Stings had a length and one-half to spare over Slow Motion as they flashed past t the wire. Slow Motion barely saved second place, , taking that award by a nose over D. A. . Woods Infidox, which had set a good part t of the pace. Sun Inplay was another length i back in the field of seven. UNASSISTED EARLY LEADER. Unassisted broke first from his outside 5 position and retained the lead for more than i a quarter mile, where he relinquished it to » Infidox. Slow Motion was pursuing the leaders closely as they went to the far turn, with Many Stings third. The latter went to j second place on the turn and he and Slow f Motion were just off Infidox at the stretch. Both went past in the run to the eighth post, where they came together for an instant. . * Many Stings began to pull away at the six- I | teenth post and Infidox came again in the e , final yards to make things interesting for r j the failing Slow Motion. The day was warm and the track fast. A | large week-day crowd was out for the sport, . j i Willis Sharpe Kilmers Sun Pharos, a two- "_ j i year-old that trainer Elmer Trueman had at t : peak form, came through on the rail at the j I head of the stretch and went on gamely to B I j beat E. W. Duffys Prince Waygo by a neck c j in the second, another five furlongs juvenile dash. The second horse swerved and caused * " a jam on the turn, in which Abbasside, which finished third, and Uncle Walter, were the | chief sufferers. Chin Music took the fourth 1 I award in the field of seven. Jockey A. Craig ■ I was on the winner, which ruled a heavy choice. The time was 1:00%. Abbasside set the early pace, with Prince Waygo in closest attendance until they hit t the far turn. Sun Pharos moved to second place at this juncture and came through on the rail at the stretch to take a narrow lead, [, holding it to the end.
