Horsemen Awaiting Challedong Final Work-e out for Comparison — Carter Handicap Eligible* Turn in Sterling Trials. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 13.— Early birds and stop-watch artists will be all eyes today at Aqueduct when trainer Louis J. Schaefer brings William L. Branns Cnalledon onto the track for his final work in preparation for Saturdays running of the 0,000 added nine-furlong Dwyer. In order to impress these critical students of form and fitness, the Maryland-bred son of Challenger II. — Laura Gal, by Sir Gallahad III., is going to have to do some fancy stepping. The reason it is going to be difficult for Cnalledon to make a hit with the clocking brigade is that he will be gauged by the work turned in today by his arch-rival, the Belair Studs Johnstown. This Withers-Ken- tucky Derby-Belmont Stakes winner proved he is on finest edge by stepping a mile, handily, in :47%, :59%, 1:11% and 1:36*6. The illustrious three-year-old was well in hand all the way and showed every evidence of wanting to run faster and farther. His mile work followed a half-mile breeze on Monday in :49%. Cnalledon, which gave Johnstown a severe drubbing in the Preakness, was on the Aque-e duct track this morning and breezed three-j eighths in :37. The distance-loving bay colt looked good. He is to be worked a mile today. Three prominent candidates for Saturdays renewal of the ,500 added seven-furlong Carter Handicap turned in sterling trial moves yesterday. Myron Selznicks Cant Wait went seven furlongs over the main track at Belmont in 1:26% handily. Over the same track, The Chief, from Maxwell Howards stable, stepped a mile handily in 1:38%. Fighting Fox, from the Belair Stud, went seven panels at Aqueduct in 1:25%.
