Entries close on Thursday for the open-ipg day handicap at Dufferin Park. The event is for three-year-olds and upward at a. mile and a sixteenth for a purse of ,000. Apprentice A. Snider was fined 5 by the stewards for failure to keep his mount, Doer straight in the stretch in the seventh race Tuesday. William Palmer and Ghost Queen, handicap stars of the Medway Stable, will be shipped to Suffolk Downs following their engagement in the Long Branch Handicap on Wednesday. Jockey S. Young resumed riding on Tuesday after a few days lay-off due to illness. A division of the J. G. Fair stable will be shipped to Montreal at the close of the Dufferin Park meeting. Apprentice F. McTague accepted his first mount since his return from the Motor City when he piloted A. J. Halliwells Farity in the last event Monday. McTague will be a welcome addition to the jockey colony as there are very few apprentice riders registered with the I. C. R. A. at the present time. A. Casey purchased the six-year-old gelding, River Crest, from the Erindale Stable at private terms. Jockey J. Deering returned from Detroit to take part in the Tuesday program. The apprentice allowance was waived on Damica in the opening race yesteiday and the mare picked up five pounds, making her total weight 111.
