Start good and slow for all but Virginia Boy. Won easily; second and third driving. INSCOLITA improved her position steadily rounding the far turn, moved up with determination when straightened out in the stretch, disposed of ALANFOX and drew away at the end. CHIEF MOURNER was in close quarters nearing the far turn, improved his position when clear and then finished well. BONNY CLABBER made up some ground in the stretch run. ALANFOX was sent into command after the break, opened up a safe lead and then faltered badly in the stretch run. STALAGMITE was outrun from the start and was never a factor. TOTEM POLE was unable to improve his position. VIRGINIA BOY broke in a tangle and was away poorly. Overweight — Alanfox, 1 pound ; Totem Pole, 4. SECOND RACE ABOUT 2 MILES. BARRICADE II. jumped well and was kept close up the first turn of the field, moved into command when urged, drew away into a long lead and was in hand at the finish. ARCHERY dropped back and lacked early speed, was under severe pressure all through the final three eighths and finished with a rush. FLYING FEATHERS made a bad landing at the sixth fence, nearly unseating rider, swerved at the seventh fence and then finished well under weak handling. REDLANDER was a forward factor from the start, bobbled at several of his fences and then tired at the finish. WAR PORT set the early pace under sufferance and then quit. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third easily. MISCOMPUTE was in close quarters going to the far turn and was steered to the outside rounding the stretch, ducked into the rail inside the quarter post and stood a drive gamely to the finish. BANNER GIRL was well up all the way while saving ground, responded in the stretch, but began to bear out in the final eighth. HIGH TOSS was taken under restraint when outrun, responded when placed under pressure and then outlasted RED TIME in the final strides. RED TIME began slowly and was sent up on the outside, saved ground entering the stretch, but was unable to get through at the eighth post and was then sent to the outside to finish fast. ENCYCLOPEDIA showed speed from the start and had no mishaps. FRIENDLY JANE came to the extreme outside in the stretch run. CLOSE KIN had a flash of early speed. Won easily ; second and third the same. THELLUSSON moved into command at the start, raced WHITE MASK into early defeat, drew away into a safe lead and was in hand at the finish. DECK improved position steadily and finished well through the stretch, but could not menace the winner. IRISH ECHO, well up all the way, was placed under pressure in the stretch run and then faltered. RODIN was away well, kept in a forward position in the early running, saved ground, but faltered steadily at the finish. WHITE MASK quit after chasing the early pace. BLACK LOOK was unprepared at the start and, away slowly, improved his position steadily and then finished fastest of all on the extreme outside. MINTSON was in close quarters inside the eighth post and was eased back, then sent up on the inside, closing with j rush. JAMES N. showed a good effort from the start and held on gamely in the final drive. MAY R. Ruowed early speed, but faltered steadily in the linal sixteenth. w Scratched— 75357Sun Plume, 116. SILVER TRACE was sent into command at the start, showed speed, but was tiring through the final eighth. SEA-MYTH was well up from the start and had no mishaps in the running. FLYING MINT showed a good effort all the way. LAUERMAN was on the outside rounding the far and stretch turns. GUEST OF HONOUR II., fractious at the post, did not break with his company and was galloped along back of his field. Scratched— 758063La Charite, 112.
