DARK ACE raced close to BONVIANT while on the inside, went to the front readily nearing the stretch ch and came out swiftly in the final drive. BONVIANT raced in his best form, broke fast to gain a short ,rt lead, lost command when reaching the stretch, then tired steadily. HAZEL W. was hurried from the start irt and came gamely in the closing drive. WISE GLANCE came willingly after lacking early speed. GOLDEN ■ RAPIER began slowlv and could not enter contention. HATION was unable to threaten and lost ground. id. DONAS PAL showed speed for a half mile. SNOBBISH LADY tired, as did TRAPSHOT. CANTERUP JP broke very slowly. EDGAR H. in the first three eighths, moved into a clear lead midway of the stretch, then had to be hard urged to withstand JABIRU. The latter, away sluggishly and outrun for a half mile, settled in stride and came between horses in the stretch run to close with a rush. DANS FOLLY was kept within striking distance of the leaders, finished on the outside and came gamelv. SATIATION was prominent under strong handline and held on well to the end. MISb TRIM breaking" slowly, finished stoutly when in stride. LADY MOWLEE raced evenly. J. EDGAR H. flattened out badly. POMPE GRANDE tired badly. FLYING DUKE was outrun. Scratched — Lonely Road, 118. COTTESMORE, fencing cleanly and reserved off the pace for a mile and a half, was placed to light punishment to engage the leaders going to the fourteenth jump, assumed command when taken to the outside, then was kept under stiff pressure to the close. MILLRACE, going strongly from the start, moved into the lead at the eighth fence, lost command to WHADDON CHASE at the next jump, made repeated strong bids in the final half mile and continued strongly to the finish. WHADDON CHASE had much speed while setting the early pace, returned into the lead after being displaced at the eighth jump, but tired in the last half mile. CAMPFIRE EMBERS, well up for one mile, made a bad landing at the twelfth fence and fell back. BROOM TOPPER raced strongly for a mile and a half. ROLLING STEEL fell at the first fence. Won driving; second and third the same, READY-ABOUT, rated close to the leaders, was shaken up when reaching the turn, swung around the leaders to take command in the last eighth, then had enough in reserve to withstand SPANISH BEAUTY. The latter, beeinning slowly, bettered her position on the inside in the last five-sixteenths to finish strongly. SISTER REIGH worked her way forward to enter contention at the stretch turn and held on well to the end. CHANCE WATCH was under strong urging all the way and came gamely in the closing test. WAR GRAND, lacking early speed, finished with a belated rush. BLABLAH flattened out in the last three- sixteenths. ELTON HEAD does not amount to much. CHIMNEY TOP, outrun for five-eighths, closed with a belated rush between horses in the stretch drive and finished in a dead heat for third with CAPE RACE. MANILA BAY broke slowly, then closed a good gap. JUST FUN could not get into contention. TURKEY RUN was done after a half mile. BYRDS FLIGHT had no mishaps. ROYAL GREY quit badlv. FAMILY FRIEND, permitted to gain his best stride before moving into contention, went to the outside when placed to a drive, responded to a strong drive in the last eighth and, in a stout finish, was up in the concluding strides. IDLE SUN was a stout factor from the beginning and continued resolutely until the close. JADAAN, outrun early, went through on the inside rounding the turn, saved much ground to assume a short lead in the last eiehth and fought it out stubbornly. SLATTERN raced well placed and finished with good speed. ALEXANDRINE was prominent from the start, but was not good enough NANSEMOND tired after setting a good pace. CAMARADERIE, taken back off the pace, improved his position when placed to, a drive and fniished eamely. CHAUVIN raced well placed, but was not good enough. FLAG UNFURLED was never dangerous. SUN SWEEP moved to the outside when displacing PORTMORA entering the stretch, continued gamely and came out slowly at the end. PORTMORA was rushed hard tte take command on the first turn, was rated until challenged and held on with good courage.
