PAULSON, a contender from the start and lightly urged to keep up in the early stages, came through on the in idc when closing well under strong handling and won drawing clear. BROAD LIGHTS had speed "from the start, raced wide throughout and held on courageously in the drive. STROLLING MISS was sent to the front on the inside, was taken out from the rail after reaching the turn, hung on with determination to the last sixteenth and swerved when tiring. HIGH POLISH was on the inside early, went out after reaching the last three eighths and could not improve his position in the drive. MARY SEIBERT began slowlv. GOOD SERVANT began to work his way up after three sixteenths, swung to the outside on the stretch turn, got to the front nearing the final eighth and. much the best, drew out rapidly thereafter. LAST ROSE, also slow to settle into good stride, bettered her position steadily after a quarter, was directed between horses entering the stretch and tired in the late stages, but outstayed BAND O SILVER. The latter, on the inside throughout and outrun to the final quarter, came with a rush approaching the final sixteenth, was in close quarters near the end, but hung on well. KING BLACK had no mishaps. TRYSAK tired in the drive. I SWEET DONNA began very slowly and was unable to get up. GREAT BEAR showed a flash of early speed. ARCHED quit badly." SIR AJAX, never far back, moved up while under re traint on the turn, overtook BOSTON SOUND quickly when straightened in the stretch, but tired and could not draw away. BOSTON SOUND displayed good speed from the start, still was restrained as he opened up a commanding lead on the stretch turn, could not withstand the winners challenge, yet hung on stubbornly. LEGAL ADVICE began slowly, saved some ground while racing far back the first half mile, came around horses in the stretch, where he closed with a rush in a fine effort. EP had no mishaps. PAR-QUEEN saved ground, but failed to stay when put to a drive. LADY VELVET was held safe. LADY SARA was outrun. RED GARTER, away fast, lacked speed and was far back after the first eighth. HUMBLE ISSUE was under vigorous riding from the start, tired after about five eighths, yet outstayed LITTLE HIG. The latter raced prominently from the start and held on fairly well. CARLOVLNIAN failed to keep up. FLIGHT OF GOLD was held safe. SILVER BRAID was under strong pressure the final quarter and could not improve his position. BUCKING, fractious at the post but away well, took command under light pressure, was taken in hand after a quarter, easily drew out on the stretch turn and, continuing well, held sway to win handily. SAFE AND SOUND, never a gr»at distance back and on the inside to the stretch, had to be eased when blocked on the stretch turn, worked his way up in the stretch and, finishing boldly, disposed of LADY THIRTEEN and was getting to the winner. LADY THIRTEEN was under vigorous riding after three-eighths, drifted out entering the stretch and held on fairly well, but could not withstand SAFE AND SOUND. TIGER TEDDY raced wide throughout, was placed to pressure in the stretch and also held on gamely. LITTLE TRAMP was held safe. Overweight— Rich Cream, 1 pound. SIXTH RACE 1 MILE Out of Chute. AL AU FEU, badly outrun from the start and raced wide, began to improve his povtion when approaching the stretch, continued strongly when straightened up on the outside in the final quarter and. after wearing down DON CREOLE, drew out fast. The latter was rated under steady restraint for three quarters, responded well to take command when called upon in the stretch and hung on resolutely, but could not hold the winner. ROUGH DIAMOND, under good restraint for five-eighths, moved up on the inside on the stretch turn and hung on well to the final sixteenth, where he tired. MISS BONNIE cut out the early pace under mild restraint, raced wide the final three-eighths and tired in the last three-sixteenth-. KNEE DEEP gave way under light pressure in the stretch. GRAY JACK, raced wide and a strong factor for five-eighths, failed to stav when under energetic riding thereafter. Overweight — Rough Diamond, 1 pound. ■ Continued on eighteenth page. FINELLA, away fast, drew clear without need of urging, was shaken up on the stretch turn, increased her advantage again when roused nearing the final eighth and held the race safe thereafter. TORCH STICK, fractious at the post, was unable to keep up after beginning fast, rallied in the stretch where she was kept on the inside and was eoing resolutely in the final staees. TIMEFUL, taken back at the start and steadied when outrun, came with fine belated speed in the final quarter and was swiftly overtaking the leaders. ANNS PRINCESS, on the inside early but racing wide after about three-eighths, was under light ~ pressure in the last quarter and faltered after five-eighths. CAUTIVO also tired in the final eighth.
