Announcement Published a Month Ago in Daily Racing Form Confirmed by President Walter Gregory. As announced by Daily Racing Form over a month ago, Charles J. McLennan will return as racing secretary at Washington Park. This was confirmed by president Wal-i ter L. Gregory, and while it may sound like p a bit of routine news to racing fans, it is ■ of great importance to Chicago racing, and ■ to owners and trainers compaigning here, s McLennan, one of the top ranking secre-l taries in the business, appeared lost to Chi-, cago and the Middle West last winter when I he signed a contract with Suffolk Downs. - This document placed him on year-around r call for the New England track, with the i result that he had to give up several of his r other summer engagements. His schedule, f however, permits him to continue his serv-3 ices at Washington Park, making it the only : - track in this section he will serve this . season. HAS FINE REPUTATION ? The young racing secretary has built up a 1 j reputation nationally among horsemen as 9 i well as among patrons, and he is much in 1 3 demand by the leading jockey clubs. He served at Arlington Park for a number of f years as well as at Hialeah, Havre de Grace, Delaware and Keeneland. President Gregory and his associates at *■ 3 Washington Park were highly pleased when 1 t they learned that McLennan would be able 2 B to continue at their track.
