S. Shelley and distributed to 3 horsemen today. These awards go in grad-_ . uating scale to trainers saddling winners of f races of a mile and three-sixteenths and up-_j ,. wards. Introduced first at Arlington Park, ■t the thought behind the system of trainers awards is to stimulate the development of f • distance horses. These distance races proved 3 i I popular with patrons and horsemen last year and the Arlington programs will be thickly I studded with then* during the thirty-days J meeting, opening here on June 26. The e scale of awards is: In all races of a mile and three-sixteenths, the trainer saddling the e winner will receive 0; in all races of asmile c J and a quarter, 00; all races of a mile and J three furlongs, 50; and all races of a mile and a half or over, 00. As in former years, the Jone3 "Lightning Eye finish-camera will be in use during the Arlington Park meeting, announced assistant - general manager Fred Radke here Wednesday. Jones crew of camera engineers has the ultra-modern machine with 5 its double cameras already set up and will send it through its final tests next week. Mort Shaw, director of mutuels at Arling- j , I" ton Park, arrived from St. Louis and is busy Y with the routine of preparation for opening S on June 26. Largest of mid-west mutuels • plants, Arlington Park has 290 selling and d cashing wickets. Christopher J. FitzGerald, Jr., who served 0 as state steward at the Fairmount meeting, ■ reported for duty at Arlington Park Wednesday, 5; where he will be clerk of scales and d placing judge. Arlington Park officials expect a heavy y movement of horses into the north side e tracks stables from outside racing points s over the week-end. There have been more J than 1,700 applications for the 1,250 stalls available.
