PATTTE R. WINS AT BIG ODDS Pays 38 to 1 After Accounting for Opening Race at North Randall — Big "Daily Double." CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 15.— Having raced poorly in her every other start, the stocky bay filly, Pattie R., at odds of 38 to 1, crashed through here at North Randall this afternoon, registering the second biggest payoff of the season. Carrying the silks of S. H. Rutledge, the three-year-old miss drove home the winner of the first race. With jockey Karl Greever up, she was making her first start of the meeting. Behind the flying filly in second place was the faltering 3 to 5 favorite, Mrs. A. M. Creechs Moisson. Brevard, owned by Joe Forrest, was third. With the track in its finest condition, splendid weather prevailed for the fourth sunset program conducted during the current meeting. A good week-day assemblage cheered the overlooked Pattie R. to victory. WELL-MATCHED FIELDS. Eight well-balanced races were carded, one for two-year-olds, at four and one-half furlongs, with four over a distance of six furlongs and three at a route of one mile and seventy yards. Every race held a good number of contestants, furnishing excellent entertainment for the spectators who took advantage of the balmy weather and viewed the sport. As she drove to the first win of her racing career, Pattie R. led Moisson, only one of the ten starters conceded any chance to win the six furlongs race by the "punters.- Brevard, taking third place, held his position by only a head margin over Frank J. Marvins Come by Chance. First it was Cosmic Ray on the lead, and then Come by Chance, after which came the rapid-running Pattie R. to reach the front at the head of the stretch and hold it to the finish. Jockey Jack Richard lashed Moisson up alongside the leading Pattie R. on the last turn, only to have him bumped and knocked off stride. A daughter of Grandlace— Lady Precious, by Sandy Beal. Pattie R., was making the ninth start of her career, after having run poorly in her other seven starts this year. This was her first outing since the Churchill Downs meeting in May. The winning "Daily Double" tickets, on the long-shot Pattie R. in the first race and the favorite, Black Rhapsody, in the second, paid 11.60. Ill with the measles, John Carey, patrol judge, has been confined to his home for the past three days.
