AQUEDUCT TURF NOTES T • ■ 4 Thomas J. Hill and George Pomansky were arrivals from New Orleans, and plan a lengthy visit. Jockey L. Haas flew to his Oklahoma home to visit his mother, who is ill. He is due back on Friday. James Ritchie returned from Suffolk Downs with several horses which he raced there for John Simonetti. Oscar Mackay, one of starter Cassidya assistants, resigned his post. He will take over several horses to train. The Glen Riddle stable will go to Saratoga Springs at the conclusion of this meeting. Mrs Elizabeth Workman, of Washington, D. C, arrived from her home to visit her son, jockey R. Workman. She wll stay for several days. Winnie OConnor, noted rider of years ago, has opened a school for jockeys at 192nd Street and Keno Avenue, Hollis. He has several boys sent over by trainers to learn the rudiments of riding. The boys are grounded in the fundamentals, such as seat, proper stirrup length, and balance. Jockey N. Wall, fully recovered from his recent indisposition, resumed riding during the day. Jockey Eddie Arcaro accepted the mount on The Chief in the Carter Handicap. Jockey G. Seabo is due here tomorrow from Delaware Park to ride Challedon in the Dwyer. At private terms C. M. Cooney purchased the horse Substantial from W. J. Ziegler. This is his first experience as an owner and he turned the horse over to E. Phelan to train. Bill Shaw of the Pinkerton forces announced that his baseball team will play its initial game Sunday, June 25, at Aqueduct against the team representing the track force under the management of Louis Francis. The game attracts attention from the supporters of both teams.
