BRANHAM was forwardly placed from the outset, gained a slight lead after going the first half mile and increased his lead steadily, although under intermittent punishment through the closing ein!ti. MAELONG, quickest to begin, was rated along back of the pace when outrun, was placed to prendre when reaching the stretch and, while holding on willingly, was unable to close any ground. GRIMES GOLDEN had good early speed in the going, drew clear of her field through the back stretch and faltered under punishment in the last three sixteenths. EBONY BLUE closed some ground, although unable to endanger the leaders. SOON raced evenly. GENERAL HAY was unable to close any ground in the final drive. REGAL LINK was outrun throughout. CLEANING TIME improved her position gradually while racing on the outside, went to the front when reaching the stretch and, drawing clear, had enough left to stave off the bid of HURRY ANN. The latter, outpaced early, moved up steadily in the closing five-sixteenths and was going gamely at the end. BLUE TINTS, slow to settle into her best stride, loomed up menacingly at the stretch turn, but was unable to close any ground on the leaders during the stretch drive. LITTLE DEMON, away fast, faltered in the last quarter mile. BAIZE disputed the pace for the first half mile, faltering when placed under punishment. TEE TEE was outrun all the way. CHARMING tired. BLOB VOLT, away well, was under slight reserve while following along in close pursuit of the pac« for the opening three-eighths, raced to the front when called upon, drawing out to win with speed to spare. AMERICAN MONEY worked his way up gradually and held on willingly inthe closing drive. THARS TIGE, slow to begin, came willingly when placed .inder punishment through the stretch run. TOTACHE dropped back in the opening eighth and was never able to gain a prominent position thereafter, although making up some ground through the last sixteenth. CHANALIS was outrun. GOLDEN GATE, prominent from the start, fought it out determinedly with DREEL during the first five -eighths, then drew out in the closing sixteenth. DREEL, hustled to the front on the outside, made a determined effort to go along with the winner when challenged, but gave way during the last eighth and barely lasted to save second place from BUTTERMAN. The latter, hustled into contention, was taken in hand when gaining a forward position, responded gamely when reaching the stretch and closed boldly on the outside. BISSAKERRY. far bark earlv, closed a good gap through the last quarter mile. CURRANTS was a stout factor early, then tired steadily during the last five sixteenths. GLENBROOM, under slieht reserve while within striking distance of the leaders for the first three-eighths, dropped back steadily thereafter. Scratched— 74812sSun Arbor, 105. FLAG ORLAND followed along in closest pursuit of the pacemaker until reaching the stretch, wore down NICHOLAS S. in the last three sixteenths, drew into a good lead and was clear at the line. FRIENDLY PAUL, on the inside in the run through the back stretch, was brought to the outside when straightening out in the stretch and finished cutting down the winners advantage steadily. NICHOLAS S. had the most early speed, but was unable to go along with the winner when challenged and faltered steadily in the last sixteenth. OLD NASSAU, roused repeatedly during the first three-sixteenths, was under intermittent punishment throughout, but was unable to threaten the first two. THE RUNNER faltered under pressure through the stretch. GENIE PALATINE dropped back steadily after rounding the . far turn. BIOLOGIST was unable to keep up. TRAGGAT, under steadying restraint while following along in near pursuit of the pace, worked his way y to the leaders when called upon, disposed of GALLOPING for the lead and, hard ridden, drew out through h the last eighth. GALLOPING raced to th ? front at once, met determined early opposition from MOBCAP, • made a bold bid to ge along with the winner when challenged and only faltered through the last eighth. WHIPPER CRACKER, outpaced early, was unable to reach the leaders and just managed to outlast MOB-CAP. The latter was prominent all the way and came again through the stretch, but tired in the closing 1 few strides. WROUGHT IRON was never prominent. EVERGOLD, far back early, beean working his way to the leaders during the last three-eighths, 7 threaded his way into contention and, coming to the outside in the stretch, took command to draw out, . but had to be vigorously ridden to hold GROUND OAK safe at the end. GROUND OAK had good speed, 1, was taken back and given a breathing spell, responded gamely when reaching the stretch, bumped WULFSTAN when moving up and closed with good energy. GREAT BLAZE, restrained early, fought it out gamely through the stretch. BLACKMAIL was unable to reach the leaders. WULFSTAN tired through the last three-sixteenths. FERRYBOAT opened up a clear lead, was rated along under slight restraint and id tired in the last quarter mile.
