Ladies7 Day Program At Sportsmans Park Fair Sex to S.ee Eight Sprinters Vie in River Grove Purse Today CICERO, 111., May 4.— Tht Ladies Day program of eight races for the Tuesday afternoon of thoroughbred sport will be headlined by the River Grove Purse, allowance event styled for three-year-olds exclusively. This race, which will be contested over the seven -furlong course, has a field of eight overnight entries scheduled to vie for the ,200 purse. Paul L. Kelleys three-year-old filly, Miss Militant, a winner of her last start here, looms as the most likely one to go post-ward favorite. This miss is right at her peak form at this time and with any sort of racing luck should again visit the winners circle. Her last race was at the same distance and she was returned the winner by a half length over Golden Goose. Michigan Sweet, from the stable of Joe W. Brown, who is making her first start of the meeting, appears as the one to prove most dangerous in the feature event. This daughter of Michigan Boy and Candy Maid has had many races this year and is ready to give a good account of herself, judging from her past effort and her morning trials on this half-mile oval. F. C. Brophys Out Bid, who is making her first start since she was shipped here from Phoenix, Ariz., rates right up there with the best sprinters. This filly has only started three times this year and was the winner of the Apache Handicap at Phoenix. The daughter of Psychic Bid defeated the best sprinters at the Arizona track and also her workouts here prove that she can take the turns on a half-mile oval. Her winning effort was at six furlongs and she ran the distance in the good time of 1:12% over a fast track. Others to compete in this event are Latent, Cirio, Golden Goose, James Quest and Your off. Only two of the above mentioned have made appearances at this meeting.
