New York Notes JAMAICA, New York, N. Y., May 4. Trainer Jules Wessler reported this morning that he will ship Macks Lass, Brave Sir, Grebe and Mobcap to Narra-gnasett Park to be turned over to trainer J. L. Donovan for an extended New England campaign. The Belmont Park Clubhouse was the scene of a first aid and air warden gathering by racing followers Thursday night. First aid lessons and other branches of that department were given. Robert Oliver, owner of the mare Lady Bethyl, will enter the Jamaica Hospital in the near future for a stomach operation. Racing regulars at Jamaica the past few days were surprised at the number of women in charge of cigar stands. A shortage of manpower was given as the reason. i George D. Widener, newly appointed president of the Westchester Racing Association, was a visitor at Jamaica. Mr. Widener will take over his new duties at the Belmont Park opening on Monday, May 11. Andrew Jackson Joyner is expected at Belmont Park for several days of that meeting. The veteran is enjoying good health and promises to make several trips to the tracks this summer. Five horses, owned by the Eljayel Farm, in charge of Stanley Feeback, will be shipped from Laurel, Md., to Detroit for racing at that point. Jockey B. Thompson, who was grounded for ten days for rough riding on Wednesday, left for his Paducah, Ky., home for a short rest. He plans to return here upon the expiration of his suspension. Ashley C. Cole, appointed by Governor Lehman as racing commissioner to succeed John Sloan, assumed his office Friday. Walter Anderson, who rode with success about twenty years ago, is now a valet. E. G. Jones, of Long Beach, Calif., arrived at Aqueduct with Phar Rong, Alpine Ace and other horses.
