| Ten or More Ranking Fillies Expected To Fill Engagements in Kentucky Oaks Several Eastern Candidates May Come to Churchill for Mile and Sixteenth Fixture LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 4.— With the sixty-eighth Kentucky Derby now a part of racing history, Churchill Downs now is preparing to stage another fixture just as oi ., the Kentucky Oaks, for three-year-old fillies. This stake, which, like the Derby, had its first running in 1875, will be offered on Saturday and a field of ten or more may be marshalled for the ,000 added test of a mile and an eighth. An interesting possibility is that several horses who took part in the Pimlico Oaks last Saturday may be sent here for the Downs race. Prominent among the eligibles fo. the local stakes are the Belair Studs Vagrancy, who won the Pimlico feature, and Charles S. Howards Chiquita Mia, who finished second, beaten only a half length. Another nominee who took part in the Pimlico Oaks is J. H. Whitneys The Swallow. Downs officials today were awaiting word from the trainers of these fillies regarding their plans in connection with the Kentucky Oaks. Possible Starters Standing out among the fillies now at Churchill Downs who are expected to be found in the Oaks this week-end are Brownell Combs Miss Dogwood, J. K. Houssels Emolument, Herbert Woolfs Pig Tails, and H. Potter Russells Fillibeg. These misses finished first, second, third and fourth, respectively, in the Colleen Purse last week. Emolument came from a long way back to be second to suggest she may be hard to beat over the increased distance of Saturdays engagement. Two other prominent candidates for the Oaks who have been under colors this meeting are Mrs. V. E. Smiths Sis Baker and Mrs. A. N. Gelbs New Glory. Sis Baker was second to Jean Ferrante in the Bloom-field Purse here a few days ago and New Glory was fourth in the same race. Although the stable is to be shipped away before the end of the week, the Val-dina Farms may leave Valdina Melia behind to Till her Oaks engagement while others who may be found in the field are I. J. Collins Royal Martha, J. C. and S. H. Stones Sissie Smith, and J. O. Keenes Halcyona.
