! 1 I ! , | " i j j Winn Due Momentarily From Churchill Downs Coming Here to Direct Plans For Lincoln Fields Meeting LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 4.— Col. Matt J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association, left here for Chicago, where he will proceed with preparations for the Lincoln Fields meeting, opening May 18. Though tired after weeks of work in connection with last Saturdays Kentucky Derby, Colonel Winn planned to plunge immediately into details in connection with the 30-day season at the Crete track. Colonel Winn will be joined later this week by track superintendent Tom Young, who, with his assistants, will put the Lincoln Fields plant in order. Lincoln Fields already is open to horses and a few are stabled there now. The general influx is not expected for at least another week, and by then many of the biggest racing establishments in the Middle West will be checking in for what promises to be one of the best meetings that the Crete track has experienced in some years. Some of the stables leaving here for Lincoln Fields are those of William B. Simpson, Dixiana, Howard Wells, Jake Lowenstein, William H. Hoffman, Jr., Thomas and Thomas Carr Piatt, Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Grimes, Cleaveland Putnam, Herbert M. Wolf, Leslie Combs II., Brownell Combs, J. Graham Brown, Hyman Friedberg, Ros-coe Goose, Mose Lowenstein, E. E. Pershall, Henry Potter Russell, Willie Crump. S. Bryant Ott, Frank P. Letellier, Arcturus Stable, Kirby Ramsey, Theodore E. Mueller, Mrs. Marie Evans, J. J. Flanigan and numerous others.
