The latest western threat to arrive at the track is Otto Bagleys string of Cali- fornians. Top performer in Bagleys string is Gordons Gift, a six-year-old that I has won each of four starts in the South- • west on top of five firsts last year, when 1 it landed in the money 16 times. Bagley also has Jacodra and Whistling Boy. A number of other arrivals have im-I pressive 1941 records, among them Lucias Sun and Queen Toke, in the Lee Helton stalls. R. P. Knudsen has Tadpole, the late John Olivers stake horse that made things plenty tough for Ak-Sar-Ben s 1941 field, and Grover Gilbert is working out Chryseis, a six-time winner in 1941. Against such as these, however, the local talent looks for plenty of fight in such mounts as Harold Nellors All Lizzie, a favorite here last year. Whatley and Fogelson have O. K. Mullen, who made six trips to the winners circle in 1941. M. H. Van Berg is banking on such horses as Bert W., who carried his colors to the top nine times last year. Van Berg also has ; Honey Boat, a horse that led the way : across the finish line eight times in 1941, ; and Waringa, five -time winner last year. In the W. J. Ormsby stable is Fredda T., j another horse that claimed nine top places in 1941. i There are plenty of others, but these are just a few that lead officials to declare ! that the 1942 meeting here will be the 1 greatest as well as the largest in its his- tory. !
