Bedwell Patiently Awaits On Mares to Produce Aces LAUREL, Md., May 4.— H. Guy Bedwell. who bred the stake winners. Chairman and Lady Gold, besides a number of useful horses at his Yarrow Brae Farm, near here, would like to add another stake victor or two to the list. Possibly he will. At present he has a few yearlings and three foals at the nursery. He has only to wait until 1943, or the following year to learn what kind of a start is made. This years foal crop consists of a filly, by Teddy Patic — Happy Knot; colt by Teddy Patic — Maxine, and colt, by Vicar — Miss Ponne. The mares will be bred back to Teddy Patic, who stands at the local establishment. Happy Knot is the oldest of the three mares. She won up to nine years of age, through the 1939 season, and during her career accounted for a few stakes. A daughter of Happy Argo— Knot, by Jack Atkin, this is her first foal. The other two mares, Maxine and Miss Ponne, are rather young. Both were good race mares. Maxine is a daughter of Jean Valjean — Elmar Star, and Miss Ponne a get of Misstep — Pouponne, by Black Jester.
