Few Strange Dams At Sagamore Farm Discovery to Serve Only Nine Outside Mares Among Total Of Thirty-Four Booked Him GLYNDON, Md., May 6.— Discovery will this year serve 34 mares. Of that number only nine are outside matrons. The others are members of the brood mare band at Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts Sagamore Farm, near here, where stands the strapping chestnut stallion son of Display, from the Light Brigade mare, Ariadne. Among the Sagamore producers going to the Cup horse are Thats That, full sister to Sarazan and dam of the stake winner, Now What ; The Spare, John P. Grier mare whose first foal was Speed to Spare, winner of more than 00,000; Pansy, a product of the race mare, Pansy Walker, and Canfli, dam of Heelfly. Others include Wise Mother. The latter is a great mare. Although well along m years, she appears healthy and strong. A daughter of Von Tromp — Manny, by Sempronius, she has foaled Picador, Wis Susan, Old Jefferson, Good Advice, Wise Daughter, Sound Advice, Mr. Hastings, Wise Father and others, all good winners. The group of outside mares is also representative of proved lineage. Several are of particular interest. Brocado, who belongs to Mrs. Mary E. Whitney, is out of Good Goods darn, Brocatelle. Rosanna C, one of Adolphe Pons brood mares, is a half sister to Airflame. Lady Toney is the dam of the stakes winner, Sir Alfred.
