Trainer Awards at Wheeling WHEELING, W. Va., May 13.— In an effort to encourage more frequent appearances of the distance racers, secretary William H. Shewbridge has posted 5 awards for the trainers of winners of races at a mile or over. This plan was introduced at Wheeling last fall, among one of the first tracks in the nation to do so. The result was a greater effort of trainers to send their charges over a route. Shewbridge has arranged for at least three distance events daily.
