VALDINA FLARE raced prominently placed from the start, swung to the outside in the stretch and, responding gamely to punishment, wore down CHEERY RASCAL to draw out fast in the last sixteenth. CHEERY RASCAL gained a short advantage after withstanding stubborn contention from TACARO LILLY in the back stretch, opened up a comfortable lead, but tired under punishment in the last eighth. OUR WILL worked his way up on the outside, saved ground into the" stretch and finished with good energy. BONNY LIBERTY, on the inside and well placed, dropped back slightly after rounding the far turn, but held on willingly to the end. CENTIGRADE was unable to reach the leaders. MILL IRON was never a threat. SEARCHLIGHT trailed most of the way. TACARO LILLY quit badly. Scratched— 22281 Thin Skin, 118; 23164 Merry Mistake, 108. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. ZACHARIAS, under confident handling, was away slowly and a trailer early, began moving up on the outside after leaving the back stretch and, still maintaining a position well out on the track, responded gamely to hard riding to get up in the last strides. VALDINA JOE moved up with a rush after rounding the far turn, took command when MACK GRAY began tirine. then drew clear, but, despite holding on willingly, was unable to stave off the bid of the winner. PRAIRIE DOG, slightly reserved for a half mile, held on gamely when placed to pressure. NIGHT TIDE, hard ridden, held on well to the end. MACK GRAY displayed good speed in pacemaking, then faltered in the last eighth. BALLAST REEF dropped back after rounding the far turn, then moved up again when reaching the stretch. GOOD HEAD had early speed. CHALDESE, away alertly, was unable to keep pace. Scratched— 22574 Schuylerville, 114; 195202Ball-o-Fire, 114. Daily Double on the First and Second Races Paid 1.20. BUS GIRL was hard ridden to get to the front, met a stout challenge from PACIFIC MAID, came wide into the stretch and. swerving after reaching the stretch, had enough left to hold safe the challenge of VALDINA LUSTER. The latter moved up stoutly on the outside, was carried out nearing the stretch when PACIFIC MAID bore out badly, was soon straightened out and closed determinedly. A claim of foul lodged against the winner was allowed and BUS GIRL was placed second. AGRADEL was well placed throughout, saved ground entering the stretch and finished with good courage. EPAWAY worked his way up gradually and finished gamely. ILEFETCHIT was away with the leaders and held on willingly. MARCELLA K. failed to improve her position when placed under pressure. IRRESISTIBLE, slow to start, moved up steadily on the outside through the back stretch", disposed of GALAFIRE for the lead and drew out steadily during the last eighth. GALAFIRE went into command at once, soon drew clear and, rated along under slight reserve, held on well when placed to punishment, but was no match for the winner during the final drive. LOULANG, well placed all the way, failed to close any ground when called upon. HARD CRACKER was unable to enter into contention. TROPIC ZONE was outrun. WAR ORPHAN tired. JACKS GIRL, on the outside and prominently pitted, wore down MIXER to gain a short lead, but was no match for the winner in the closing test. MIXER had speed from the start, drew clear in the first quarter and, taken along in front, tired in the last three sixteenths. ALL FREE trailed most of the way. MOJA trailed far back early and. while making up ground, was never a factor. MISS HIGH HAT showed the most early speed, then faltered in the last five-sixteenths. REBBINA was unable to keep up. MIDDLE AISLP, in nearest pursuit of the pacemaker until the last half, wore down HIGH MARTIN for command and drew out through the stretch run. HIGH MARTIN outran his field to the first turn, drew clear and, rated along under slight reserve, made a game bid to go along wtih the winner then challenged, but was not good enough, although holding on with good energy to the end. HI KID worked his way up gradually and held on well in the drive. ARABESQUE closed some ground. BONSIBLE closed some ground after trailing early. WAR BONNET tired. HE SAID was unable to keep up. WINDSHIELD, resented close up, gained a short lead when BUBBLE LIL began tiring and, while continuing willingly, was no match for the winner In the closing test. RECOATNA came with a rush in the stretch and was along in the closing stride to wear down BUBBLE LIL. The latter outran her field to the first turn, drew into a good lead and, rated along under slight reserve, faltered in the last three-sixteenths. IN SANG was unable to threaten. PEANUT LADY tired after forcing the early pace. LADY LYONORS failed to engage the leaders. JACK FLY tired. Scratched— 22840 Wantarun. 112; 23012 Over Gold, 107; 23120 Breeze, 112.
