Over 200 Head Lip-Tattooed In Maryland by TRPB PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 1.— In 10 days, more than 200 thoroughbreds have been lip-tattooed in Maryland by the Thoroughbred Racing Protective Bureau. A three -man crew is spending every day in the Pimlico race course area tattooing horses in accordance with a recent approval by the directors of the Thoroughbred Racing Association. The TRPB crew stationed in Maryland is made up of horse experts. They include Walter Turnier, who for 15 years served as identifier for The Jockey Club; Charles Hyland, former government caretaker of horses and supervisor of Army horses in India during the War, and Abner Breeden, one time rider.
