Eight to Contest Englewood Purse Entry of Jesting Fox and Lightfoot Lady Favored in Sportsmans Sprint Event SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111.. May 1. — A field of eight sprinters, including two from the stable of W. T. Beezley, has been named for the Englewood Purse to feature tomorrows card at Sportsmans Park. The headliner is a dash of six and a half furlongs for four-year-olds and older horses under allowance conditions for a purse of ,500. The supporting races cater to the lesser lights of the local racing colony as the better grade of horses remain in their stalls for the Saturday program. In the Englewood Purse, the Beezley pair of Jesting Fox and Lightfoot Lady appears to hold a strong hand. Both are right on edge at present, as evidenced by their showings in the Cicero Handicap on Wednesday in which they finished second and third, respectively, to Bubbling Easy. Jesting Fox compelled Bubbling Easy to do her best to earn a neck verdict in that test, which was also at six and one-half furlongs, and while he is asked, under the conditions of the Englewood, to pick up 11 pounds to 116, he should be able to handle the additional weight. Made Up Considerable Ground Lightfoot Lady was three and a half lengths in the wake of Jesting Fox in the Cicero, but turned in a good race, making up considerable ground near the end. She carries the same 111 pounds that she toted in the Cicero, and with just a little more early speed she would be difficult to head at the end. She is certain to have benefited by her outing in the Cicero. Ben Fogelson has named Wow to the Englewood, and the son of Blackwood ranks serious consideration on the strength of his easy third over this track the other day. On that occasion Wow came from back of the early pace and missed the major award by two heads at the end of six and a half furlongs. His New Orleans campaign saw him winning two races. Mrs. J. L. Oglesbys Mint Quest had but one start at Oaklawn Park and that was a successful one. The daughter of High Quest turned back ,000 adversaries on that occasion in a six-furlong race, and on the strength of that effort she must be accorded a chance to earn some portion of this purse. Captain Dave will represent S. Roucher, and while the son of Rolls Royce has shown little in recent races, including an unsuccessful start at this meeting, he was a rather tough horse to beat in his class last fall at Hawthorne, and a return to that form would find him right at hand. Thorobelle comes from a Florida campaign that saw the Sun Teddy filly, who races for Mr. and Mrs. L. Seybold, consistently close in her races. While she failed to register a victory, she was meeting fair competition and might retain her form to earn a portion of this purse. Xen Mc-Nairs Winter Song is another who just completed a Florida campaign, Ted Mosquero, racing for D. C. Wilhelm, completes the field but has done little in recent races to recommend him here.
