Bubbling Bubbling Easy Easy Continues Continues to to Triumph; Triumph; Preoccupy Preoccupy Victorious Victorious in in Seasons Seasons Bow Bow Outclasses Rivals In Speed Handicap Wilhelm Miss Draws Off to Easy Success Over Jesting Fox In Sportsmans Park Sprint SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 7. — Speeding over the five furlongs of the Speed Handicap in 1:02%, the fastest time recorded for the distance at the meeting, David C. Wilhelms improved Ted Easy filly, Bubbling Easy, accounted for the mid-week feature in the easiest manner to duplicate his score at last asking in the Cicero Handicap here a week ago. Top weight under 119 pounds and well ridden by Tommy Bates, who knows his mount well, the winner drew out in the stretch to lope across the finish line four and a half lengths before Willard T. Beez-leys Jesting Fox as that Fighting Fox gelding staged a stiff duel to earn a neck verdict over Final Glory, from the stable of L. and W. Slavin. The track, which had been drying out throughout the early races while being rated good, was designated fast for the running of the Speed. Willis E. was fourth, Doras Son fifth, Double Call next, and Mrs. Valenti brought up the rear of the field after having been forced wide and knocked out of contention at the first turn. Shakes Off Doras Son Bates had Bubbling Easy away from the gate with the others and in the run for the first turn she had speed to outfoot the field with the exception of Ben Johnsons speedy invader from Phoenix, Doras Son. The fleet son of Penalo moved up to race lapped on the outside of the eventual winner as the leaders swung into the backstretch, but this was under sufferance from Bubbling Easy, who was snugged down on the inside as Bates was confident of the ability of his charge. Around the turn Bubbling Easy shook off Doras Son without much effort and the challenger was done when headed to wilt out of contention. Through the home lane Bubbling Easy continued to draw away, although Bates was not asking her to extend herself fully and she coasted across the finish line, leaving no doubt of her superiority over the others. The race frcm the viewpoint of a spectacle was for place honors. Jesting Fox had iiii. k . d his position very gradually, and when Doras Son was done in the stretch he moved into second place. Meanwhile, Final Glory had trailed the field until rounding the final turn, where he unleashed a burst of speed that saw him spurt around the field and enter contention with a rush. This belated finish saw him lapped and gaining on Jesting Fox as the wire was crossed, but neither offered serious contention to the winner. The cloudy weather that has prevailed here recently took a turn for the better and the sun was seen intermittently through the afternoon. A crowd of 10,750 turned out for the mid-week sport.
