G Knott; bred by D. E. Holeman. WENT TO POST-5:44. OFF AT 5:44 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. WHISCENDENT was not hurried early, moved into closer contention on the outside on the final turn, went around HEESADATE in the stretch and wore the latter down after a stiff drive. HEESADATE was sent into a clear lead at once, was well rated in the lead, saved ground and just failed to last. CODE MENTOR lacked early speed, improved his position gradually and closed well. TACOMA trailed the field early, then closed a good gap. RANDOM BREEZE moved up to challenge on the backstretch, but flattened out. HY RICKEY could not keep up. MILKYMOON was never prominent.
