Foursome Stable to Race At Lincoln Fields Meet CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 7. — The Foursome Stable, maintained by Vertner Smith, John Lappin, Lyons Brown and Owsley Brown, is to be shipped to Chicago after the close of the Kentucky spring season. Vertner Smith, well known Falls City wholesale distributor and mem- ber of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, Messrs. Brown and Lappin, Brown-Forman Distillery Corporation executives, may add more thoroughbreds to their present establishment before the close of the 1947 campaign. Currently, Milton Rieser is conditioning five horses for the Foursome Stable, Chalk, a two-year-old colt the get of Pharamond II— Toneys Tomboy; Cake Walk, a two-year-old filly by Chance Play— Laris; Convalescent, a three-year-old gelding sired by Cant Wait — Gentle Julia; Confirmation, a three-year-old filly by Chance Play — Laris, and a full sister to Cake Walk, and Collaborate, a three-year-old filly by High Quest — More News.
