CEE RAF, not hustled while allowed to settle into best stride, moved to the leaders on the outside nearing the furlong pole, responded to stout pressure to gain command and had enough left to hold GREEN LOG safe. The latter came from far back and closed with a rush. PEGGY SILVER moved through on the inside to challenge, then hung. TONY V. overtook LEATHER BOUND to gain command after six furlongs, then weakened. CHANCE ACE, forwardly placed, threatened the leaders on the final turn, then faltered. SWEEPNACK showed nothing. FLEET SISTER went evenly. BIRTHMARK had no excuse. LEATHER BOUND flattened out after losing the lead. CAMERA MAN was in close quarters early, then weakened in the drive. Start good from stall gate for all-but J0PIER. Won driving; second and third the same. MISSMENOW broke alertly, was steadied along under light restraint, responded when roused and held DOG DAY safe. The latter worked way up on the inside to gain contention entering the final lane and finished with good courage. MR. JINX, forwardly placed, moved close to the leaders on the final turn, but was not good enough. HERCULES showed a good effort while saving ground. BIL0XI BAY went evenly. SUN CLOCK saved ground to threaten, then faltered PRIMUS was unable to threaten. ARROWS AWAY forced the early pace, then gave way under urging. JOPIER went into the air at the start, then galloped back of the field. J. J. LYNCH tired after three furlongs. LUNCH DATE outran TASCOSA from the start, drew into a comfortable lead rearing the far turn, was kept out in the better going and was under a drive to the end. TASCOSA broke alertly, remained closest to the leader, but failed to gain under steady pressure. GLASTER closed gamely. MISS CLARA was unable to reach the leaders under urging. VALIENTE, quickest to begin, was steadied back of the pace out in the better going, rallied mildly when set down, was forced wide as GUNNISON bore out slightly on the final turn, then was up in the final stride. BLACK KNAVE, well handled while close to the pace, saved ground to assume command nearing the sixteenth pole and held on gamely. HERBIE G. was rushed up on the inside to gain command before a quarter, turned back a bid by GUNNISON entering the stretch, then faltered in the late stages. GUNNISON made a game bid nearing the quarter pole while racing wide TEDDY TARN was not good enough. The others were outrun. Scratched— 21857 Gracie Son, 116. MAL, in close quarters soon after the start, v»as not hustled while settling into her best stride, moved into contention after a mile, rallied when set down, caught WISE TIGER inside the final sixteenth and drew clear at the end. WISE TIGER saved ground while setting the pace, drew into a long lead down the backstretch, then weakened when roused. AIRY GOER was unable to keep up early, but finished gamely under pressure. CHOW, bothered going to the first turn, never recovered under steady urging. BRAZIL showed nothing. BEAU SWEEP came over soon after the start, then retired after five furlongs. TRIPOS was outrun. The latter drew on even terms with the leader after a quarter, saved ground and fought it out gamely. RESPIRE, in close quarters for the entire trip, failed to respond to urging when straightened for the drive. PRINCE FAVOR, well up on the outside, had no excuse. BARUNA closed stoutly. ARIDISICAL showed nothing. DANCE TEAM broke slowly, moved through on the inside while running smoothly, then went evenly through the stretch. GAY GINO was unable to threaten. REAL SHORT, slow to settle into best stride, worked his way up on the outside to challenge inside the final sixteenth and drew out under steady pressure. WHIFFLETREE came over slightly at the start, was straightened away and drew into a commanding lead, held advantage under steadying restraint, turned back the bid of ALBERTO D., but was not good enough. The latter moved through on the inside to challenge nearing the quarter pole, then finished well under pressure. FOX MASTER raced evenly. JUSTA NOTE, well up on the outside, weakened in the drive. OUR VICTORY, hustled from the start, came over sharply rounding the first turn, was steadied after straightening in the backstretch, responded when roused entering the stretch and was up in the final strides. BEE W BEE opened a clear lead on the backstretch. shortened stride into the final lane, appeared soundly beaten, then came again. LOST GOLD saved ground to finish strongly. GREMLIN, bothered on the first turn, rallied mildly entering the stretch and was caught in tiaht quarters. ANOTHER BEL weakened. SHIFTY SUE showed nothing. NIGHT BOMBER quit badly.
