TRANCE SLEEPER set the pace while under stout restraint, disposed of PURITAN in midstretch and was still hard held at the end. PURITAN moved to the leader gradually, but was no match. BLACK OBJECT lacked a rally under pressure. MANEEN raced well in the late stages. BREVROME flattened out when set down for the drive. HELEN DEAR showed nothing. GAINER was outrun.
