Thirteen Entered In Commonwealth Flag Drill, Agrarian-U Tote Equal Top Imposts of 118 in Route Stake at Suffolk Oval SUFFOLK DOWNS. East Boston. Mass.. May 13. — Thoroughbred racing in the New England area should hit a new high tomorrow a. Suffolk "Downs offers the best program of the current year, headed by the thirteenth running of the Commonwealth Handicap for an added prize of ,500. In addition to the mile and one-sixteenth eature, the Lexington Handicap at six f irlongs for a purse of ,000 will be incjded on the nine-race card. One of thi events will be over the grass course and vill afford the week-end patrons their l opportunity to watch this phase of the ,port, since previous turf races have been ducted on Tuesdays and Fridays. The possibility of a fast track for the Ccmmonwealth attracted a surprisingly large field of 13 in the first middle distance stake of the current meeting. The line-up is comprised of a dozen different interests with three of the eligibles. Clarence Hart-wicks Flag Drill, Bar Sue Stables Scipio and Honeywell Farms Dole also being named in the Lexington. There is a good possibility that Scipio and Dole will run in the shorter event. Flag Drill and J. L. McKnights Agrarian-U are scheduled to share top weight of 118 pounds in the mile and a sixteenth test. Fresh from his score in last Saturdays Governors Handicap at a mile, Flag Drill will probably be installed a slight choice in the Commonwealth. Column, Mr. Chairman in Fixture Marlet Stables Column and Reynolds Brothers Mr. Chairman, who finished third and fourth in the Governors, beaten three parts of a length, and a length and a quarter, respectively, will renew their rivalry in the Commonwealth. This gets a two-pound weight shift in their favor, Column carrying the same as last week, 115 pounds, while Mr. Chairman has been assigned 106 pounds. Two newcomers to this years stakes program on this circuit are Cherry Oca Stables First Nighter and Murray Hill Farms Boo Boo Shoo. Both are capable handicap performers and a top effort from either would find them right there in the final accounting. Honeywell Farm will probably place its hopes in Mesmer and send Dole after the honors in the Lexington. In the Governors Handicap. Mesmer drove abreast the leader at the furlong marker, only to wilt and appear short. Tomorrow, however, may be a different story. Fantasy Farms Grand Entry has failed to display the form shown during the winter months at New Orleans Fair Grounds, but cannot be taken too lightly in tomorrows event. Warren W. Waters has named his good performer, Sassys King, for the Commonwealth. The five-year-old Alaking gelding has registered a win and a third in as many starts this year and could be ready for the caliber he would meet if sent postward tomorrow. Nine have been named overnight to contest the Lexington. In addition to the trio who are also named in the Commonwealth, Sneak, Tim B., Gee Whiz, Captain Boudour, Mayes Riley and Daily Dip round out a formidable field for the sub feature.
