Jerry West Stars in Saddle CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 13. — Apprentice jockey Jerry West, who is currently leading the local riders, increased his margin over his nearest competitor Thursday afternoon as he successfully piloted the last four winners on the eight-race agenda to victory. Beginning with the fifth race, West was astride Mrs. Samuel Rosens Podner and came right back in the sixth to score again when astride Mrs. H. M. Goldstines Mons Boy in the featured Worth Purse. Following his third consecutive winner in the seventh, aboard Goldstines favored Old Iron, the Louis ville rider captured the nightcap as he guided Goldstines Valdina Tyrant to a driving triumph. The three winners saddled by trainer H. M. Goldstine greatly enhanced his chances for local conditioning honors.
