California Senate Passes Quarter-Horse Measure SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 24. — The State Senate yesterday passed a bill that would permit quarter horse races in California. The bill, introduced by Assembly Speaker Sam L. Collins, would permit sprint races up to but not including five-sixteenths mile at any track where there is pari-mutuel wagering. The measure must now go back to the Assembly for compromise or agreement on Senate amendments.
