Thompson Holds Conference With Riders on Guild Plans WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., May 24.— Bert Thompson, West Coast manager of the Jockeys Guild, arrived here today from Detroit to confer with local reinsmen relative to the new organizational set-up of the body. He reports that in a recent meeting of directors in New York, it was decided that .the Guild in the future would have no coordinating head to replace Pat Kelly, who recently resigned from that position. Sterling Young will represent the Guild in the East and Thompson will continue to represent the organization on the West Coast. Presently the Guild is preparing to appoint a middle western manager, preferably, according to Thompson, a former jockey. The procedure of the future will be for the. three heads to send their reports into the New York headquarters, where they will, in turn, be distributed to the. other managers. In the meantime, F. A. Smith, N. Leroy Pierson and Ike Bassett have been elected as a committee to represent the Guild in the Middle West until a permanent representative has been named. Thompson leaves here today for Ak-Sar-Ben, at Omaha, Nebr., after which he will continue on to the West Coast.
