Colonel Mike Goes In Camden Feature Marks First Outing Since Wood; Engages Jacks Town, Some Town, Great Shuffle GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 24. — Eugene Jacobs Colonel Mike, inactive since finishing fourth in the Wood Memorial on April 23, returns to competition tomorrow afternoon and heads a small but select field named for the mile and 70 yards Millville Purse. The surprise appearance of the Heliopolis colt would suggest that his owner-trainer contemplates taking another crack at Olympia and Palestinian in Saturdays 0,000 Jersey Stakes. The Millville, which was lesigned as a final prep for the Jersey, has two other lightly regarded prospects in its overnight field in Af ton Villa Farms Jacks Town and Richard Ormes Great Shuffle. Tomorrows event shapes up as an extremely keen contest, with the following sophomores having been named: Palatine Stables Some Town, Woodland Farms Overexposed, A. T. Hurffs Mirthmaker, Frank and John St. Charles Hoosier Boy and Edward Laskers Hedgewood. Some Towns Good Record Colonel Mikes Wood effort was highly satisfactory, but the succeeding respite would indicate that the race may have taken much out of him. He was carried out during the effort and still was beaten only seven lengths by Olympia, Palestinian and Capot. Even if set back slightly in training, he has had sufficient time to again reach peak form and, if that is the case, he will be hard to whip in the Millville. • Most frequent winner in tomorrows field is Some Town, from the highly successful Palatine establishment. Purchased with Hash Night and Scipio from the T. C. Melrose stable, Some Town has won five overnight races under trainer "Slim" Pierce. In his last start he carried 122 pounds and raced to victory in 1:42% at the mile and 70 yards distance. He takes off five pounds tomorrow which should enable him to give even the top horse a tussle. The speed horse in the Millville is the New Jersey-bred, Overexposed. He has raced but twice this season, finishing second in his first start and coming back to win a six-furlong race in the exceedingly good time of 1:10%. Whether or not he can carry his speed for tomorrows mile and 70 yards remains to be seen. In the race won by Some Town last week, Hoosier Boy was second, Jacks Town fourth and Mirthmaker, fifth. Any one of the trio is eligible for improvement with Mirthmaker the most likely to surprise. Mirth-make is a triple winner this season, while Jacks Town and Hoosier Boy have a single victory each. Hedgewood, who is quartered at Delaware Park, has not raced since Pimlico, where he was third to Noble Impulse and Blue Hills in the Survivor Stakes. That was the race in which Noble Impulse set a mile and a sixteenth track record of 1 :42. Hedgewood was beaten five and a half lengths in the race. Great Shuffle has spent the majority of the year racing over his head, and again seems in a tough spot tomorrow He has been idle since finishing 12 lengths behind Sun Bahram in a Havre de Grace overnight event.
