Fast Seven-Horse Field Seeks Goodwood Purse Agrarian-U, Docksrader and Misleader in Suffolk Offering SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Masa*. May 24. — Seven capable performers hav* been made eligible for the six-furlong Goodwood Purse, an allowance test that features tomorrows mid-week program at Suffolk Downs. In addition to bringing to* gether a fleet band of sprinters, the Good« wood will serve as a proving ground for four candidates for the 0,000 Tomaselta Memorial Handicap, which features the holiday card next Monday at this course. The quartet eligible for the nine-furlong Tomasella-are J. L. McKnights Agrarian-rj, Circle K. Farms Misleader, George T. Babins Dockstader and Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Bedwells Oidenasai. The remaining members or tomorrows line-up include Still River Stables Time Roll, Lookout Studs Lookout Son and J. H. Carrs O. G. Kelley. Agrarian-U has had 10 days rest since his rough trip in the recent Governors Handicap. In that race the seven-year-old Agrarian gelding was roughed going to the first turn of the mile and one-sixteenth test, but continued on gamely to assume command before traveling a half mile. The task of overcoming the early interference took its toll in the final stages of the Governors and the McKnight star dropped out of contention to wind up last in the field of eight starters. Since then Agrarian-U has been training smartly and, going back to. earlier races this year, he must be given top consideration in tomorrows test. Misleader is definitely on the improved side, as evidenced by his fast closing second to Charing Rock in a recent sprint. The Wheatley Stable cast-off is at his best at middle distances but can not be overlooked in a sprint that boasts of as much early speed- that, should be forthcoming in the Goodwood. Dockstader is apparently recovered from his misfortune in New Orleans last winter where he stepped on an obstruction causing a serious foot injury following a winning race. In his only local outing, the Mr. Bones gelding displayed only ordinary form and appeared in need of the race. Last season Babins mainstay proved a consistent handicap performer on the New England circuit and the former jockey is hopeful that_his charge will get back in peak form for his return to stakes competition in the Tomasello. Oidenasai is making his seasonal debut in the Goodwood and could provide an upset if such is forthcoming. Lester Bed-well has been patient with the son of Transmute and if last seasons form is a criterion, Oidenasai could defeat this field. While running under the silks of Weston Adams, Oidenasai was regarded as a top perfonner -in the spring months. 11 «
