PARCHESI was under energetic handling early to gain the lead, raced true and, under strong handling through the last eighth, gradually drew out. TAKElTOFF, slow to settle into her best stride, rallied from between horses after a furlong to race head and head with the top one to the last eighth, where she faltered under pressure. TRACELENE, away with the first flight, had good speed throughout and held on stubbornly. LA GANADORA had no mishap in an even effort. RAMILLY gave a promising performance. Won driving; third the same. MAGIC MOMENT followed in close attendance to the early pace, came to the outside rounding the turn, rallied under pressure in the early stretch to find racing room between horses and took command inside the last sixteenth, where she just lasted to finish on ■even terms with SHIFTY MAE. The latter broke very slowly and was badly outrun to the final quarter, where she found racing room on the rail -when making her bid and finished full of run. LARKMEAD ANDY improved his position steadily while racing on the outside rounding the turn, wore down GUYLARK inside the last eighth and commenced drifting out while tiring in the late stages. GUYLARK had hs usual high speed, saved -ground much of the way and had little left when the real racing began. RULING TIME made up ground fast in the last quarter after a very slow beginning. DELHI DAN was cleverly rated while maintaining a contending position from the start, rallied after the ninth jump to race head and head with the leader to the last jump, then gradually drew out under strong urging. PORT RAIDER had speed, made a bad bobble at the fifth jump, but quickly recovered and held his advantage to just before the last jump, where he gave way readily to the top one. DIABLILLO was never a great distance back, jumped cleanly, was abruptly taken up clearing the last jump to avoid CAIDSTONE and lost all chance. BRIDLESPUR was always far back. RATCATCHER tired after seven jumps. CAIDSTONE raced with the top flight from the beginning and fell while making a bad landing on the final jump. Scratched— 74561 Gift of Gold, 139. TRANSFLUENT, cleverly rated while racing between horses to the stretch turn, rallied under extreme pressure in the early stretch to wear down SKY MIRACLE inside the last furlong and, under clever handling, gradually drew out. The latter wrested command from the outside when ready nearing the last quarter and quickly drew out, but could not resist the top one. BOLD LEADER raced wide of the top flight from the beginning, was on the outside throughout and tired after c making a mild rally nearing the final furlong marker. HIYA-SAILOR passed tiring horses in the late stages. TARPORT KID was never a contender. BLACK ROVER-and MARK HIGH raced each other into defeat early. ~ FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE. FLOWER BED broke alertly, was 1 blocked after going an eighth and, forced to take up sharply, quickly recovered and worked her way up on the 3 outside rounding the turn, responded readily to increased pressure in the stretch to wear down WIDE REQUEST - and had enough left to stall off COCHISE. The latter, slow to settle into his best stride, circled his field h . while rallying on the stretch turn and finished full of run. WIDE REQUEST displaced the early pacemakers c in the early stretch and, after giving way readily to the top one, held on stubbornly. DISCONSOLATE engaged * SHINE ON soon after the break and, after disposing of him in the stretch, had little left. SHINE ON was -- rushed up fast while lugging in soon after the break, raced head and head with DISCONSOLATE and tired badly j in the late stages. DANHERST was never a factor. FLYING MISSEL, hard held while saving ground in the first three-eighths, came to the outside when roused on the turn, wore down CHAINS in the early stretch and, under a sustained drive, gradually drew clear. PREFECT had speed, saved ground throughout, gave way to DOUBTLESS II. after leaving the backstretch, but came again in the late stages. CHAINS wrested command from the outside rounding the stretch turn, but had little left when set down for the drive. FRANKLY moved up boldly between horses rounding the turn, was blocked and forced to take up sharply a quarter out, was then eased to the outside in the stretch and flattened out under pressure. WORD OF HONOR gave way suddenly aftef racing prominently to the stretch. ENGEL MAN could not settle into stride. DOUBTLESS II. quit badly after three-quarters. VENTOLINO, hard held while racing on the outside to the last quarter, rallied under strong handling to wear down NO BULL inside the .last eighth and gradually draw out. The latter followed in close attendance to the early pace assumed command when ready in the early stretch, but could not resist the winner. MENEVER broke very stow and was outrun to the last quarter where he found racing room between horses and finished full of run. ELASTIC moved up boldly on entering the stretch to head NO BULL, but lacked a closing rally. NAVY AWARD gave way suddenly in the last quarter after setting a fast pace. SIR GORHILL got to the front between calls rounding the turn but had nothing left. The others never threatened.
