One Rose Miss America Hopeful WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, Til., May 28. A recent nominee to the Miss America Stakes, which closes for entries Wednesday, is George D. Smiths One Rose. The Atlanta, Ga., patron entered the owners ranks when he purchased One Rose privately from Col. Phil Chinn in January, while at Hialeah Park. The juvenile filly, by The Finest Yellow Rose, earned her first purse for Smith by racing four furlongs at Gulfstream Park in :46, one-fifth of a second slower than the course mark. Trainer W. H. Bradley disclosed that Jimmy McCoy is slated to handle One Rose in the Miss America Stakes, to be decided here June 11.
