► _ Twenty-Four Chrysler Horses Bring 21,000 at Auction Dell Stable Pays 9,500 * For Imperium; Creech Buys Jimmy Cricket for 7,000 BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y„ June 2. — Twenty-four horses, the first installment of the complete Walter P. Chrysler dispersal sale, were sold at auction this morning. The sale was under the auspices of the Fasig-Tipton Company and a total of 21,000 was realized for an average of ,208. The top price of the sale was Imperium, who was knocked down to George P. Odom, acting as agent for the Dell Stable, for 9,500. The son of Piping Rock and Imperatrice was the medium of brisk bidding, in which several out-of-town buyers were active. Imperium has to his credit three winning efforts this season. Next in demand was Jiminy Cricket, a two-year-old. This fellow was sold to Bennett Creech, who made the trip from Chicago for the vendue. Jiminy Cricket will be shipped west by his new owner who acquired him for 7,000. Larry McPhail paid 3,600 for Our Hostess. This miss, a three-year-old, will be added to the matron ranks at the McPhail nursery in Maryland next spring. In addition to the Chrysler horses, other horses were offered at the first of the two-day vendue. Bidding on these lots was also on the brisk side. To Sell Other Stock at Saratoga The sale was conducted with Humphrey Finney and George Swinebroad in charge and the latter wielding the gavel. The remainder of the Chrysler horses, the yearlings and stallions and brood mares will be offered during the Saratoga vendues. The yearlings will go under the hammer on the nights of August 11 and 13, while the brood mares and stallions will be sold on August 19. A summary of the sale follows: Property of Walter P.
