Alsabs Alsabs Day Day Visits Visits Winners Winners Circle; Circle; Powder Powder Puff Puff Stakes Stakes Lures Lures Twelve Twelve Detroits Spotlight On Juvenile Fillies High Frequency, Wondring, Aunt Jayne Z. and Heres Hoping Top Splendid Field FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 7. — The best field of two-year-old fillies ever assembled at this track is scheduled to go postward tomorrow in the 0,000 Powder Puff Stakes.. Connections for an even dozen junior misses named their charges for the five-furlong allowance dash and the mid-week feature shapes up as one of the more interesting added money, attractions of the current Michigan Racing Association season. Early choices for the Powder Puff are R. M. Woods High Frequency, James C. Ellis homebred, Aunt Jayne Z., and Charles T. Fishers Dixiana-bred pair, Heres Hoping and Wondring. With the single exception of Hal Price Headleys Valuta, who is. to shoulder 109 pounds, the remaining members of the field each is to take up 113 pounds and the aforementioned better-regarded entrants are to meet at equal weight burdens. Bred at Old Hickory High Frequency stamped herself as an unusually classy filly June 4 when she literally coasted to an easy victory in a five-eighths mile over-night allowance event. The Wood miss, a daughter of Zacaweista and Bepwil, was bred by Col. Phil T. Chinns Old Hickory Farm and she was timed in :59% for her local victory. Winning with speed in reserve over such company as Joel Farrells United Nation, a Powder Puff eligible, and T. D. Buhls Seer ond Avenue, High Frequency chalked up the best time of the present session for the dash distance. Previous to her last conquest, High Frequency gave an excellent account of herself in several New York engagements, winning her third outing there and then came back to finish third in the Fashion Stakes. After making the pace to the final furlong of the Belmont fixture, High Frequency faltered nearing the wire and ran third, beaten a Continued on Page Three + Twelve Test Speed In Detroit Stake High Frequency, Wondring, Aunt Jayne Z. and Heres Hoping Go in Powder Puff Continued from Page One head and a neck by George D. Wideners Rare Perfume and Alfred G. Vanderbilts Bed o Roses. Jockey Manuel N. Gonzalez, who successfully piloted High Frequency in her recent victorious trip, is to guide her tomorrow in the Powder Puff. -While Aunt Jayne Z. may not boast fashionable breeding lines, the Ellis representative nevertheless, is a fleet performer and her most important achievement thus far was a clever decision in the Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs. Shouldering 119 pounds in the latter event, Aunt Jayne Z., defeated Lady Marquest, Calumet Farms quick Duchess Peg and others of that class after completing her trip in :59%. Norman Cartwright, contract rider for the Ellis establishment, is to handle the daughter of Shakamak and Miss May R. tomorrow. The locally-owned Fisher Stable will have a good chance for the Powder Puff in Wondring, a daughter of the late Kentucky Derby winner, Pensive, and Heres Hoping, a well made black daughter of Eight Thirty. Wondring has been under silks on only one occasion and defeated a fair field here on May 16, stepping five furlongs in 1:00 Vs. Heres Hoping also has had but one engagement and she graduated at the initial asking, May 26, beating a useful band of youngsters in 1:00. Jockey Robert Lee Baird will be astride one of the Dixiana starters in the Powder Puff. Linda Jane Unbeaten in Two Starts Buckley and Locklears silks are to be carried by their undefeated Linda Jane, a daughter of Maedic and Imperial Play. Under colors in two overnight events at Hot Springs early this spring, Linda Jane won both of those engagements in impressive style and she has trained satisfactorily for the local stake. Trainer Cecil Locklear stated this morning that Don MacAndrews has been engaged to ride Linda Jane tomorrow. Edwin K. Thomas Siama beat a mediocre field here on June 3 but the Tiger miss hardly rates with the class company she is to engage in the Powder Puff. Jacob Shers Excitable Mary also visited the local winners circle and, although United Nation is a winner at the meeting, her best peform-ance, of course, was a well-deserved second to High Frequency. Mrs. L. B. Kinards Convair was victorious in her first two outings but met defeat here when pitted with better grade company, and Asphalt, from the Webb and Jones stable, scored her initial success at the Keeneland meeting. Dickey Stables Growing Up is the dark horse of the probable starting band and she finished second to Make Swing in the Hia-leah Juvenile behind Make Swing. The Maxim miss also won three races during her brief career and was second to Henry Forrests Fine Art in her latest appearance under colors. Ronnie Nash is to ride Growing Up in the Powder Puff, assuring the Dickey stable starter capable handling. The chief supporting event on the Wednesday program is the June Bride Purse, six furlongs for three-year-old fillies. A small but high class field of six misses are to answer the bugle for the sprint and Lewis J. Tutts Blue JetArthur B. Hancocks Nitromond, and Hal Price Headleys Pella, are recent arrivals from Belmont Park, appear to hold the edge. T. F. Deve-reux Quick Wirra, Thomas Piatts Blue Molly, and R. C. Austins Veni Vici complete the likely group of starters for the June Bride.
