BEETLEBOMB forced the pace in hand from the inside, but lacked a closing rally. NOBODY, slow to begin, was badly outrun to the final quarter, where he was brought to the extreme outside for the drive and picked up ground fast in the late stages. ARMELLE was never a great distance back, rallied under strong handling in the last quarter to wear down BESITA a sixteenth out and stall off RIPPLING HIT. The latter reached her best stride after three-eighths while racing on the inside and closed boldly in the late stages. BESITA displaced MELS BELLS inside the last quarter, but had little left when the real test came. CLYJIE broke alertly, but dropped back in the early running and, after finding her best stride, made a determined bid in the final furlong. LA GANADORA raced with the top flight from the beginning and, while unable to menace the top ones, appeared best of the others. WAGEL was never a serious threat. RAMILLY was through early. MELS BELLS showed high speed for three-eighths, then tired badly. GAY WEED wheeled soon after the break. Scratched— 75979 Buckiegirl, 108; 73888 Boniboyle, 108; Risking, 108. Byer; bred by R. C. Owen. WENT TO POST— 5:02. OFF AT 5:03 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. MISS NINA S., slow to begin as usual, circled her field while rallying on the stretch turn, escaped interference caused by the spill in the early stretch and wore down MISS CAROLINA in the closing strides. The latter, also away slowly, circled the field on the stretch turn and, while between horses when the spill came in the stretch, displaced FRATERNAL inside the last eighth, but had nothing left to stall off the late challenge of the winner. FRATERNAL was never a great distance back, was put to strong handling on entering the stretch to take command soon after the spill, but had nothing left for the drive. CHINA COLLEEN had speed, saved some ground on the turn, but drifted out while tiring entering the stretch and was able to stay clear of the spill. THRILLER, GOLDEN VIXEN, ISOCHINO and GINNAS WAR were all forced to take up sharply when the accident occured in the early stretch and lost all chance. JERSEY DAY forced the pace in hand, took command on entering the stretch when he appeared to cross his legs at the three-sixteenths pole and go down. WIN THE PEACE, following just behind JERSEY DAY, had no chance to avoid the prostrate horse and also went down. BINDO, while racing well back, was between horses arid stumbled over the prostrate WIN THE PEACE and also fell. HERE TODAY was forced to take up abruptly and unseated his rider while weaving among the horses and riders on the track. Scratched— 74847 Vincette, 107.
