Our Page Is Selected As Champion Broodmare LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 7. — The Kentucky Thoroughbred Breeders Association, following: a custom inaugurated in 1946, has again selected the champion broodmare of the year. The mare chosen for this honor is Our Page, bay foal of 1940, by Blue Larkspur — Occult, by Dis Done. She was bred and is owned by the Woodvale Farm of Mr. and Mrs. Royce G. Martin. Our Page was the winner of the Spinaway Stakes herself, and is the dam of Page Boots, winner of the Kent and Leonard Richard Stakes in 1948 and of Sport Paige, winner of the East View Stakes in 1948, as well as second in the Saratoga Special, Grand Union Hotel and Hopeful Stakes, and third in the Belmont Futurity. Page Boots at the age of three won 7,585 in 1948, while Sport Page at the age of two won 5,200 in the same year. Other mares considered for the honor were Minstrelette, dam of Jacks Jill and Ky. Colonel; Hydroplane H., dam of Citation; Boat, dam of Rampart and Noble Hero. This award was won for the year 1946 by Bloodroot, property of Ogden Phipps, and for 1947 by Potheen, property of Calumet Farm.
